More On The Slash 4X4
October 9 2009 More On The Slash 4X4
While visiting Traxxas I was able to put several batteries through the Slash 4X4. This truck is a blast to drive and one I can't wait to get my hands on again! Because it's 4WD it has so much traction! The Slash 4X4 also has a significantly lower CG than the orginal Slash, however, this truck can still climb curbs like the rest of Traxxas off-road line-up. I mention the CG because it doesn't roll as much in corners, and racers will appreciate that.  It's plenty fast with 2-cell Lipo power (about 10mph faster than original Slash), and stupid fast with a 3-cell pack. This truck will be perfect for another spec racing class using just 2-cell lipo power. I wasn't able to drive the Slash 4X4 on a track because our testing was very exclusive and private, but I assure this truck will shine on the racetrack. The designer, Tim Roberts, is one fast racer with National Championship cred. He would certainly be a top pro if he spent more time at the track, but Traxxas has this talented engineer on lockdown. I'd be shocked if this truck wasn't as successfull as the original Slash, especially when you consider it's 4WD, includes a 7-cell 3300mah NiMh battery pack, uses Traxxas 2.4GHz technology, comes with a Velineon 3S VXL brushless system and should sell for around $350 (street price).

$350 really isn't a bad price at all when you consider what's in the box. A 2WD Slash with those options would cost nearly as much. I was actually expecting it to be more. It sounds like it's a blast to wheel!!!
