The DX450 Is Legit!
November 18 2009 The DX450 Is Legit!
I have been recently testing the Duratrax DX450 and I am thoroughly impressed. The bike is very stable and easy to drive. I decided to run the bike on my track, which is really bumpy and has a number of off-camber corners. I was surprised that I was able to get through the track with relative ease. Initially, the DX450 needed a huge area to turn. It also required thinking ahead, as the steering response was really slow.  I replaced the larger stablizer bars with the shorter ones that are included and the bike's turning radius shrunk about a third. I also replaced the springs in the steering linkage with fuel tubing and that really sped up the steering response. The bike jumps nicely,  but has a tendency to fly with the nose down unless you stay on the gas through the jump. I wish the DX450 has oil-filled front forks, but other than that this thing is awesome. You won't set any track records with the DX450, but it can totally and fairly easily tackle 1/10-scale tracks.

I've just seen some video of the DX in action and it definitely seems pretty stable. The stock suspension does seem a bit "boingy". Oil filled forks would definitely calm it down a bit. Looks like a blast!
