I haven’t touched my Thunder Tiger Raptor SC since my last post. It’s winter, so flying right now is not an option and if I assemble it I’ll want to get outside with it even more than I do now. So, I’m spending my time learning as much as I can about the helicopter and flying before picking up a radio. I can only bug the Model Airplane guys so much before they get annoyed with me so I picked up some books that we have here in the office that are specifically about helicopters. I started with The Basics of RC Helis and it has a lot of great information for the first time flyer. It explains what helicopters are out there, what type of radio you should use, what support equipment you need and explains how to fly the helicopter. Everything is in there. When I finish that book I’m switching over to our RC Helicopter How To’s. This book also covers some of the basics and has a lot of great information on advance flying techniques. For my pit box I grabbed the Helicopter Flightline Essentials book which is small and has the little stuff that I’m going to forget when I am at the flying field.
