After making all kinds of mods to the chassis of my 5B SS I couldn’t leave the old body on it so it was time to work on a new one. I picked up a Desert Rat body from Pro-Line and painted it to match the wing wrap I had from Team Gonads. I coated the body with Parma FASMASK which is a liquid mask. After applying three coats of FASMASK and letting it dry, I cut out my design with a sharp hobby knife. I painted the body with Parma Faskolor paint and my Parma Faskolor F-1 gravity feed airbrush. I painted the white first then faded purple along the edge before spraying the black. Then I faded orange along the other side of the white before spraying the yellow.
I also installed a rear skid plate from Protecta-Baja. It comes with the necessary hardware to mount it and you have to drill holes in the bottom of the chassis to secure the font portion of it. Instead of drilling through holes and using the supplied nuts I drilled at tapped the chassis for the included M5 screws.
My stock tires were pretty worn out so I replaced them with a pair of tires from Pro-Line. Their Badlands tires give the Baja lots of traction. I have one more mod to make to my Baja before I can call it finished. The parts are made and everything works properly. When they come out of my tumbler I’ll install them on my Baja and post a pic for you guys to see.
Wow.... Chris seemed like a guy who would live another 100 years!
He answered so many questions for me bout the Hobby, and it was awesome seeing him at Toledo each year as well. This year will certainly be different without him....
He was such a nice guy....not stuck up, very approachable, and he had so much knowledge....he will surely be missed. My thoughts and prayers go out to his wife and his family. Also to his R/C family....
Godspeed Chris-
